Don't get your hopes up, she's only in this clip for about 1 second, but it's better than nothing.

The short film was directed by Gabriel Dowrick, who is also the editor of Sanctuary. Sadly, I've only been able to find 3 trailers (the others don't have more of Tabrett either), and it's not listed on IMDb and it can't be found on Gabriel's official site either. Tabrett plays the beggar. My buest guess is that this was never released, I'll try to find out more about it though. It was probably shot in 2010.

'The Swallow' is an ultra-violent hyper-reality film about a boudoir, its proprietor and his fall from grace. Tabrett Bethell's audition video

I'm sorry I haven't reported about this before but I have been trying to get permission to talk about it, didn't want to post anything too early, not going to make that mistake again. But it's out of the bag now, so here you go.

I'm not sure what the story behind this video is but it looks like an audition for the next James Bond film, which is called Bond 23 for now. Not much is known about the film itself and we don't know everything about the casting either, but since the video was posted several months ago I guess Tabrett didn't get the role. I'm keeping my fingers crossed though until they'll announce something.

On the other hand, it could be what is called a "speculative audition" or showreel, agents and actors do this to get the actor out there.

And to clear things up, no, it was not an audition for Casino Royale. That film was released in 2006, before Tabrett started acting, and the video was uploaded earlier this year, in April. Yes, she is saying the lines from that film but it's not uncommon for productions which are secretive to use material from previous films. We don't know anything about Bond 23's story or who the female lead character will be or who will play her. Makes sense to test an actress with an earlier, strong character. Maybe they chose Vesper because the new one will be related or similar to her (but this is just my speculation, and I read some comments from Bond fans who'd love to see Vesper's sister).

"We auditioned in New York, Los Angeles, Sydney, Auckland because we knew that this character could become the fourth series regular. And it was just very obvious to us when we started watching the dailies that she was our lady.
Tabrett in real life is a very funny, sassy lady.
When we brought Tabrett in for the first episode that she was in she got very little time for any kind of fight training. We would've liked to done more before the season began, she got some but not a lot of fight training. We were a little bit worried about it, and the costume, particularly the original costume was even more difficult to fight in, and we knew she had to be an action heroine, that she needed to fight. When I knew we were gonna be okay was when I had been hearing concerns that Tabrett wasn't getting enough fight training and she wanted more, and you know, she wasn't 100% confident about her ability to pull it off. And then I watched some slow motion footage of Tabrett fighting with these Agiels, and doing a spin kick, and her hair whipping in the air and I said: Wow... I don't know what anybody is worried about, she can fight. We probably could've helped her more earlier on by carving out more time for training, but it was a baptism of fire and she learned it on the fly, and anybody who's watched the show would not question that she can fight.
She was up for anything, she didn't flinch in anything. Get in the Mord-Sith bath naked - no problem, make out with other women - no problem, seduce this guy - no problem, she just really jumped into it with a lot of energy."

Sanctuary - important new information!

The film's producer, Annmaree Bell revealed more details, thank you very much for sharing them with us!

Sanctuary is 15 minutes long and it was inspired by Ophelia from Hamlet. The trailer will most likely be released in September or October. First it will be entered to film festivals and we'll have to do our best to let many people know about it because it's future could depend on it. Assuming everything goes well, talks can begin with DVD destributors around this time next year.
The poster with the crack in the wall (of sanity) is the final version, but we'll get additional photos over time.

We'll have to be patient, and also ready to help Azure to be successful at film festivals later this year.

I just got Campbell's response and was very glad to see he agreed to an interview too, can't wait to ask him about a couple of things!

I've got a lot of questions already, but like the title says, you can send in some of yours too! I guess most of you will want to ask about the film and Tabrett, but keep in mind that he probably won't be able to answer everything, not wanting to spoil much from the story, and as we all know, Tabrett is a private person, so not sure how much he can talk about her. And of course questions about Campbell and his work and so on are appreciated too. You can leave comments here, or contact me on twitter.

I think a few days should be enough, let's say that the deadline is June 10.

He also had a short update about Anyone You Want's status:
"I am still taking steps to bring out the film on dvd or download and am doing quite a lot of work on this currently. It's an expensive and complex process but you won't have to wait forever! I'll let you all know when something is concrete."

- Hi Sam, thank you for answering a few questions for us.
- Hi William, I just got back from overseas, so a bit jet lagged.. I will write more later.

- What is the difference between the Unrated and the Rated version of The Clinic? Was the first one released in Australia and Europe?
- Yes, the Unrated version is the full version that has been released elsewhere, the other was a decision by the US distributor to make it more "family friendly", unfortunately not much we can really do as of course we like the full version we made! But if more people see the film we are happy.

- Amazon isn't listing any bonus features on the US releases. Are they lagging behind or we won't see extra content on those DVDs either?
- As this was quite a low budget film there aren't really any extras, we have some little things and a short film but it is up to each region if they feel they can justify the extra cost in making these special features.

- Any hope for the soundtrack to be released some day?
- Again, on a small film it is unlikely anyone will wear the expense of releasing a soundtrack, we do have all the pieces of music but it would need to be mastered to a disc for retail.

- Sorry to hear that, although it makes sense. But hope dies last, so we'll keep our fingers crossed. Do you have news about the film being released in other countries?
- A deal has been made for the UK release so that should happen not too much after the US. Amongst others Italy will also be releasing it.

- Let's talk about something else. Could you tell us about how The Clinic was born, and how you and James started working together?
- James and I met at TAFE (Technical Collage) after school, there we studied Film & TV, everything from Cinematography, editing to sound post and music production I had also done a little finance at Uni prior to TAFE. After that we worked in commercials to pay for our short films (and to eat), we made music videos and shorts while making commercials for about 8 years, James was always a writer and had some big budget scripts, a little too big for us starting out, so The Clinic was written as something we could make. So I raised the finance and we did it, so far so good. We learnt a lot on The Clinic and are very pleased with how it turned out, especially for the money we had to make it!

- And rightly so, it's a really great film! How is your next project, The Aurora Stone doing?
- We are looking to film in the next 6-10 months (we have some trouble with the heat of the Australian summer that will delay us!). We are in the process of casting which can also take some time. We are really excited about The Aurora Stone, it's going to be a lot of fun!

There's a buzz about The Clinic's release in the US, and a new trailer has arrived!

Four major American horror sites and one from Canada is reporting about the film's release on August 9 in North America.

Bloody Disgusting, Dread Central, Fangoria, Shock Till You Drop and HorrorMovies.ca all have some nice things to say about The Clinic, and BD has a review from last year's Screamfest, with some spoilers.

Image Entertainment is releasing the film in the US and Canada, you can read about both the Rated and the Un-Rated version on their site. The first one is 2 minutes shorter, both have English and Spanish subtitles, still no news about bonus content.

Tabrett plays Lia, the main cast also includes Xavier Samuel, Heather Mitchell and Peter McAllum. The film was written and directed by Benedict Samuel and produced by Annmaree J. Bell. The award winning Gabriel Dowrick was the editor, Michael Steel was the cinematographer and Lauren Richards was the production designer.

The truth is subjective, according to your state of mind.

A young woman, Lia opens the door of her house only to be confronted with a young man, blood on his hands and a gun under his chin and very quickly spots the body of her father, dead, with a knife in his chest. The young man blows his brains out.

The Plains and Lia's Distortion of Realities:

The dream is of a true event. The young man is her .... Hamlet and he did kill her father, but the d... distortion of reality as she was not the one to dis.... fact.

Lia wakes up and is in bed with the young man who was in her dream. It is her boyfriend. That horrific dream stays with her, it plays on her mind.

Where Lia wakes up is her created reality: her .... deal with her grief. In that place and at this time ...(?) next to Hamlet. In the reality of this world she is (in an?) Asylum and the person next to her there is .... Horatio.

She gently wakes her boyfriend and needing to feel something other than her sadness, they make love together. She whispers(?) gently to herself as she climaxes, the thought of going to her father's funeral bringing on the tears.

The comfort from her brother who .... of the ....bed side in the Insane(?) Asylum has been distorted(?) .... While she may be...

I can't make out what every word is and some I can't even see, but based on this, I think this film could be a modern version of Hamlet.

The trailer is coming soon, same goes for press materials. I'll try to find out more and I'll share it as soon as I can. At first we should only expect news about screenings at festivals but if everything goes well, we should hear about the film coming out on DVD too. Azure is currently at Cannes but I don't know if Sanctuary is there too.

I think it sounds really interesting, can't wait to know more about it!

Poe was not picked up by ABC

First Deadline broke the news, saying:
"The high-profile drama pilots not to get an order include Poe, which was an early favorite of ABC chief Paul Lee but lost traction after poor testing."

Then SpoilerTV gave me a little bit of hope:
"Not 100% sure. Offical ABC Upfronts are next week but looking doubtful from what has been released so far"

But then they confirmed the report too:
"looks like ABC just confirmed it's Dead. Sorry :("

Insider info: "I just talked to my source at ABC and he said that it was between Poe and Scandal, and they went with Scandal because it was different (and Shonda was involved) and there were too many genre pick-ups already. they just aren’t moving forward with it."

I'll update the post with more confirmations or other news if by some miracle anything changes. But don't hold your breath, looks like Tabrett will have to find something else. :( We can only hope the pilot will get out somehow and we can see it or at least some people will come forward and tell us more about the story.

This is also bad news for Tabrett's other projects. The Clinic, Sanctuary and Anyone You Want could've benefited from her being on air. The Clinic will be released on DVD in the US in a couple of months, Poe could've given a boost to the sales for example.

Update! On the other hand, read how small Tabrett's role was in the pilot... Let's hope she has something else coming up too, this would've been a waste of her time and talent.

Poe - About Tabrett's role and the show's chances

The first time we heard about the pilot we couldn't be sure about much, and I got some facts wrong too but I removed the incorrect details some time ago. They haven't talked much more about the story or the characters since then, but here's what can be known for sure, hopefully we'll find out more in time.

As you can see above, Poe was not picked up. Sad news, but if you still want to know what the show would've ben about, you'll find everything below.

(Fun little note: IMDb lists Tabrett after Natalie and before Chris.)

You can read a review of the pilot here, but there's no mention of Tabrett's character. I think, even though Poe himself wasn't exactly what some people were hoping for, it sounded like a pretty good show, and they could've made changes to the character later on.

About the show:
"Poe" is a crime procedural TV series that will follow Edgar Allan Poe, the world's very first detective, as he uses unconventional methods to investigate dark mysteries in 1840s Boston.
It has an element of Guy Ritchie’s version of Sherlock Holmes, an element of steampunk and a real sense of fun. This is before Poe’s darkest days. He has a sense of humor; he’s a believer surrounded by skeptics. The show in some ways bears a resemblance to Castle.

Tabrett's character is a museum curator, Poe's muse and former fiancée (we can expect some sexual tensions), but she's engaged to someone else (played by Marco Grazzini) now. Sarah has a lot of intrigue to her, and her role gets much more prominent toward the end of the pilot, she’s in several scenes, and definitely set up to be an integral character in the series. Tabrett's role is an important side storyline that will go throughout the series and may also get looped into the overarching plot of the series. Her screen time should be pretty decent in the pilot, according to those who read the script.

Comments from random people on articles mentioning the show or at forums and other places are mixed, some loved the script, some found it weak. Since this is admittedly a quirky kind of show, perhaps it's not for everyone.

The show has a chance to be picked up, but since it started out as a favourite and now sources are saying it's fading, I don't know what to think. Let's hope ABC will order and air at least a couple of episodes! It could be a great opportunity for Tabrett to show what an amazing actress she is to more people, including viewers and industry people too.

"Just when I thought I’d had enough of “let’s tie a woman up and do stuff to her” movies, along comes The Clinic, which gives the sub-genre a breath of fresh air, thanks to a unique scenario, a decent twist, and way above average technical and acting qualities.
It’s a shame actor Andy Whitfield is currently battling cancer (I look forward to his full recovery!), because in a perfect world he would not only be healthy, but also be getting the roles Sam Worthington gets. They have a similar shape and look, but the difference is, Whitfield is actually interesting to watch, and capable of making a compelling character. He doesn’t get much to do, since the focus is primarily on the mother (the equally impressive Tabrett Bethell), but he gets a number of good moments.
Whitfield makes for an enjoyable man on a mission.
The movie also has one of the best “Oh shit...” scares in recent memory.
My last two notes say “Walken” and “Music”. Walken refers to the fact that the clinic’s handicapped janitor sounds like Christopher Walken. And I always write “music” when I like the music, but I don’t know why, because there’s not much to say about it. I liked the music.

The Clinic is set in 1979 and looks like it was shoot in the 1970s, at the height of ozploitation. There's that whole feeling to things that would readily have you believe the crew from say Razorback finished that movie and then started shooting The Clinic. And no I'm not just talking T&A here, it's the whole look and feel. Director/Writer Rabbits has gone retro on us and it's working like a brought one. Of course this may not work for those who have an issue with the whole ozploitation thing, but then they should frack off to the foreign movie section and leave the rest of us in peace.
Okay so besides the odd plot issue, and hey have you ever seen a horror flick without the odd blemish in that regard, Rabbits is delivering one hell of a horror ride that sort of works like a grab bag of things to get you feeling uneasy. Besides the whole c-section thing, and that's pretty nasty when you think about it, there's what appears to be a deranged killer on the loose, vicious dogs, whoever is watching our gradually declining number of moms, and of course the requisite mentally challenged dude that backwoods movies tend to have. Rabbits has his bases covered when it comes to getting things juiced on the dark genre front and doesn't pull back on going down different paths to keep things rocking along.
One of the things I really dug about the movie is that we pretty much have an all female cast, makes a change from dudes making stupid decisions or being all macho and shite. The guy who we all think is going to resolve things is about as much good as Ridley Scott's Dallas when the metal hits the flesh, and it's up to Beth and her new found friends to work things out and survive till they can strike back in some form or other. Trying to be purposely vague here to avoid spoilers. Tabrett Bethell (Beth) leads a female cast that is up for the job, and I was sweating on every decision with them. Ultimately the game isn't what we think it is and Beth has the necessary hardness to get through to face the final disclosures. It's great stuff and I had my fingers crossed that Beth would make it to the final credits.
I was impressed with Rabbits behind the camera, he has the whole 1970s thing happening for him, and has each scene on a leash. Overall The Clinic is well constructed with the attention to detail ensuring we don't suddenly find ourselves outside the movie's time frame.
Good old fashion ozploitation flick, two thumbs up, and recommended to audiences. Rabbits doesn't rely on gore or torture, but manages to present a movie simply brimming with intent and intelligence. The ending was slightly naff, too many coincidences for mine, but what the heck as a first movie it demonstrates a Director/Writer that knows exactly what tiger he has by the tail. Go grab a screening of the movie, you are going to have yourself a good time."

The movie itself was very well done, in a way where it was creepy but not gory. I love horror movies but lately they have been dreadful, this movie redeems this genre and it is Australian which is even better, being Australian myself I really loved how well this movie was done. The mystery surrounding the story was done in a way where you don't ask yourself "Whats going on"? It left you with enough to wet your appetite but to not know everything.

The ending was great, I have a real issue with endings of movies cause most endings are bullshit but the twist in this movie I did not see coming and complimented the movie as a whole quite nicely.
If I were to give it a rating out of 10 it would be an 8.5"

"I thought the movie was brilliant and Tabrett Bethell is seriously awesome in it. She absolutely delivers - as some have already said "a fantastic performance". All the cast were great but for mine Tabrett's performance was the stand out.
Its easy to forget that this is essentially only her 3rd movie and she made it before she got LotS... Tabrett Bethell has a bright future ahead of her and I'm sure we'll be seeing a lot more of her
There are definitely some creepy moments and some gore but no more than you would expect of a movie of this genre and definitely not gratuitous or over used.
Whilst this movie was a low budget, essentially independent production, its still a quality production and well worth watching."

Tabrett is co-starring in "Poe", ABC's new pilot!

Great news about Tabrett, it's a big opportunity for her! If ABC picks up the show, she will be on network tv in a hopefully successful show. It could also mean lots of new pictures for us, fans, and probably some interviews too. And I'm sure we'd all be very happy if she decided to join twitter to promote the show a bit more. :)

"Poe" is a new crime procedural TV series that will follow Edgar Allan Poe, the world's very first detective, as he uses unconventional methods to investigate dark mysteries in 1840s Boston.

It has an element of Guy Ritchie’s version of Sherlock Holmes, an element of steampunk and a real sense of fun. This is before Poe’s darkest days. He has a sense of humor; he’s a believer surrounded by skeptics. The show in some ways bears a resemblance to Castle.

Tabrett Bethell is starring in "Sanctuary", coming in March 2011!

Tabrett shot a short film called Sanctuary back in October, directed by Benedict Samuel, her co-star is Xavier Samuel. It's produced by Azure Productions.

Nothing else is known about the film at this point, this is all they said on Facebook:

I contacted one of the producers, Annmaree Bell, to find out a bit more. She was very kind and sent this answer:

Sydney's Arts scene is celebrating after receiving international recognition from the United Nations.

Sydney has been named a City of Film by The United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation, for its contribution to global cinema.

Film critic Margaret Pomeranz says the award should show a new generation of film makers they can make a living in Sydney

"Well it's an acknowledgment of our history in film and the fact that we do have a lot of very dynamic and talented film makers in this city," she said.

"Also I think it should be aspirational, It should be something that inspires people to be more conscious of film culture in this city."

Sydney is only the second city in the world to win the film award.

The first went unexpectedly to the English city of Bradford last year, beating out more favoured candidates Cannes and Venice.

AFM 2010 Wrap-Up! The Sights! The Sounds! The Scares!

Pregnant Beth is traveling across the country with her hubby for Christmas vacation when she is mysteriously abducted from their hotel room in the middle of the night. She awakes in an isolated clinic to find her baby ripped from her womb along with several other abducted mothers. As they put the pieces together, the women learn that they are forced to play a twisted survival game in order to save their newborn babies.

The Clinic is a beautifully shot and well acted Aussie thriller with some genuinely clever ideas, but it never fully embraces its grisly premise. Writer/director James Rabbitts will probably swear up and down that this isn’t a horror film, which is why there seems to be so many awkward “tear-jerk” moments crammed into its slasher formula. Tonally uneven with several implausible end twists, it almost succeeds based on its original premise but falls just short of greatness.

I have to admit that I was not expecting "The Clinic" to be a good film. It initially starts with a predictable story about a man (Andy Whitfield) and his pregnant girlfriend (Tabrett Bethell) stopping in a seedy motel in the middle of nowhere only to find that the manager at the motel is part of a diabolical conspiracy. It seems a little cliché’ and fantastic but "The Clinic" does pay off if you can suspend disbelief and watch the story unravel.
The film intentionally moves slowly, which is not good for a generation raised on fast editing, but is well worth the wait if you can be patient. The story, as if in real time, reveals clues by introducing new characters that collectively figure out the true secret of the clinic. In the clinic, the pregnant women that were abducted wake up in a tub of ice to discover a quick C-section has removed their baby. The women eventually find each other and their babies but can’t escape. In order to identify their babies they must resort to extreme measures; they also find out that someone is trying to kill them. Without giving away any more details that would spoil the film, the women figure out, the hard way, the secret of the clinic.

I don’t know if I would classify this film as a horror film; really is a suspense film, although there is one very scary scene where one of the women walks into a caged area with a turnstile. As she passes thru the turnstile, the number counter reads 1 but when she tries to exit she notices the counter reads 2! She is not alone. It spooked me.

The Clinic is a well-crafted creepy film that has some interesting twists and turns worth sticking around to watch. The story relies on the suspension of disbelief from the viewer, that the clinic would be able to do what they do in the first place, but it’s a fun ride when all the pieces of the puzzle are put into place. I really appreciate having a story instead of mindless slaughter and I hope the film can find a distributor in the United States. Did I mention the film is Australian? Does it matter? The film is written and directed by James Rabbitts.

Seeker finds herself

GORGEOUS Aussie actor Tabrett Bethell has hit the bright lights of Melbourne after spending more than a month following a pilgrim’s trail in Europe. Bethell, who starred in the sci-fi TV series Legend of the Seeker, completed the Camino pilgrimage, setting off from Saint-Jean-Pied-de-Port in France and walking to the north of Spain.
"It is a very Catholic pilgrimage," Bethell said. "I did it because I really needed to walk, really get back to nature. It was beautiful. I walked for five weeks, every day. It was the best gift I could have given myself. You step out of the world, turn the phone off and find you, you find that peace that everyone searches for."
Bethell, a former model, on Sunday night attended the premiere of the Australian-made horror film The Clinic at the Melbourne International Film Festival. The film, which also stars Andy Whitfield and Freya Stafford, was shot in New South Wales two years ago.
"It was quite a harrowing piece to play," Bethell said.

Just when I thought I’d had enough of “let’s tie a woman up and do stuff to her” movies, along comes The Clinic, which gives the sub-genre a breath of fresh air, thanks to a unique scenario, a decent twist, and way above average technical and acting qualities. I’m actually kind of bummed that I opted for a goddamn Blu-ray screening of Texas Chain Saw Massacre at Frightfest over this film, which was showing at the same time (on the smaller screen). Stupid BC!

Along with Inside and Grace, maybe I just have a thing for mothers dealing with some truly horrible pregnancy issues? The titular clinic is a place where mothers that are near birth are given c-sections (not by choice) and then set loose. Some want to band together to find their babies, others just want to escape by any means necessary. Why the babies were taken, and why the mothers weren’t just killed, becomes clear in the film’s final moments, and while it’s not too surprising, it is pretty damn unique, and more than makes up for some of the film’s weak spots, such as the generic opening, with a couple stopping at some out of the way place run by weirdos, only for their situation to turn grim before the night is through.

However, since the film is set in 1979, I can’t question why the characters haven’t seen the 560 million horror movies that start out this way, because many of them didn’t exist yet. And the period also keeps the movie from having the standard “no signal” cell phone scene, or explaining away other modern elements that ruin the plotting of horror movies – I’m actually surprised we don’t see more period horror films because of this.

There are two minor twists after the big revelation though, and they require perhaps a bit too much of your suspension to be disbelieved. The first isn’t too bad – it’s telegraphed earlier in the film at least, and it fits with the “geography” of the story (trying not to spoil). The other is a bit ridiculous though. ... I’m just not a big fan of coincidences in movies to begin with, and two in a row irked me.

It’s a shame actor Andy Whitfield is currently battling cancer (I look forward to his full recovery!), because in a perfect world he would not only be healthy, but also be getting the roles Sam Worthington gets. They have a similar shape and look, but the difference is, Whitfield is actually interesting to watch, and capable of making a compelling character. He doesn’t get much to do, since the focus is primarily on the mother (the equally impressive Tabrett Bethell), but he gets a number of good moments. Sometimes in a structure like this, you’ll be enjoying the A plot too much to want to cut to the B plot (think Saw V, or any Saw depending on your like/dislike of the guy being tested), and this could have been no exception if not for the fact that Whitfield makes for an enjoyable man on a mission.

The movie also has one of the best “Oh shit...” scares in recent memory. ...

My last two notes say “Walken” and “Music”. Walken refers to the fact that the clinic’s handicapped janitor sounds like Christopher Walken. And I always write “music” when I like the music, but I don’t know why, because there’s not much to say about it. I liked the music. That’s it.

The film has already been released in Australia (or at least, has a distributor to do so), but not in the States as of yet, which is a shame (and somewhat surprising, given the success of "Spartacus"). Hopefully that will be rectified soon. In the meantime, ask yourself this – between this and "Lost," do fictional Australian women ever have nice, uncomplicated pregnancies?

The American Film Market‘s annual exhibition in Santa Monica, California, USA, Ocean Screening Room, 3:00PM

This is the largest motion film trade show in the world. The American Film Market is a marketplace for producers and distributors to license films. Anyone can go. However, you must register as an Industry Attendee. The down side is, a pass for only one day costs up to $275, though you will have access to the Exhibitor floor, Filmmakers Lounge, most screenings on that day, and AFM transportation.

San Sebastian Horror and Fantasy Film Festival

The San Sebastian Horror and Fantasy Film Festival saw the light 18 years ago on initiative by the San Sebastian Municipal Board of Culture. It was an immediate hit with the audience, whose active participation paved the way for things to come.

Born with the goal of attracting youngsters to the movies, while audiences of this kind have lost none of their importance, the event now encompasses spectators of all ages. But this is not just your standard film festival, it’s also an enormous horror and fantasy party, packed with street shows, fanzine meetings, performances, music, comic encounters and exhibitions, to name but a few.

The Clinic will be screened on November 4, in San Sebastian, Spain, in the Teatro Principal at 5:00PM. Tickets will be on sale on October 25 from 4:00PM.

Great news for fans in the US, The Clinic will be at Screamfest this weekend and in New York at the end of the month!

Screamfest Horror Film Festival is the largest horror film festival in the United States. Some of the largest horror online publications have called it the "Sundance of Horror." It's held annually at the prestigious Grauman's Mann Chinese 6 in Hollywood. Screamfest premieres and showcases new work from American and international independent horror filmmakers. The majority of the films showcased in the past now have distribution.

The Clinic will be shown on Sunday, October 10, 5:00PM - 7:00PM at the Grauman's Mann Chinese 6 Theatres, Los Angeles.

The people behind the film are working on getting it to more people and I'll post as soon as anything comes up. But I want to keep the blog going until that time comes, so here's a post about how the film was recieved at various festivals.

This is the only play she's been in, at least the only one I know of.

The play was written by Alex Broun and it was shown at the Seymour Centre Downstairs in Sydney in January as part of Short + Sweet Sydney 2008, directed by Alexandra Byron and starring Helen Sutermeister as Maddie, Maurizio Degliesposti as Ramon and Tabrett Bethell as Stephanie.

Broun wrote this on his website:
"These two plays have also been picking up their share of awards and nominations."
I don't know if he meant that only the plays themselves won awards and received nominations or maybe the actors too.

Welcome to the Tabrett Bethell Appreciation project community.
Why we want to do this: I think most of you know by now what Tabrett said during The Clinic Q&A at MIFF. To quote her "I'm a first-comer myself. No one even know who I am". I was so surprised that she'd even think something like that. First i was like WTF?, then i wanted to hug her and tell her how many people DO KNOW who she is. But she's not an internet person so she can't possibly know how many crazy girls (and boys) drool over her on livejournal, twitter, tumblr etc. and talk about her and Cara every single day. :P First i wanted to send her a fan letter or something similar to that, but [info]rhyfeddu had this great idea of doing TB Appreciation Project, all of her fans (or most) can be a part of. I participated in something similar on fanforum in Lauren Graham postcards project. It was the most amazing thing, she was so happy, the brainstorming and months of preparation were worth it. I don't know about you guys but it's driving me crazy that she thinks nobody knows who she is. And i know a lot of you feel the same.

What you need to do: All you have to do is join this community so i can see how many of you are willing to participate and if you have any ideas post them here below. Every time an idea is posted i'll update this post. You'll have 2 weeks to come up with something and then i'll post a poll so you'll all be able to vote for your favorite idea. Then i'll open a new thread with list of participants. Now, i know for some of you the winning idea won't be the best one, but remember the most important thing is to show Tabrett that we love her and that we appreciate her work. :) Every idea is a good idea, all Tabrett fans are welcome here. Lets do this for our Tabby. She is new at this and she needs to know her fans support her.

2. Reunite the comments we've made on Tab's acting, (in LotS and everything else she's done so far), coupled with pics of specifics scenes/moments that *illustrate* the comments
3. A picture collage (poster style) with all the work that she's done, pivotal moments that had an effect on US the fans, from scenes that touched US. next to the pics, we write how the scene we've chosen touched us
4. A standard form/questionnaire for people to fill:
Name, Age, Location, Why do you like Tabrett Bethell?, How did you become a fan?, Why do you think she should join Twitter?, A special message for her... etc
Something along those lines, so she can get to see what people from all over the world think about her.
5. Fanart package: posters, manips, collages..., whatever people want her to see (all tasteful)
6. Multimedia package: DVD's with audio and video messages from fans
7. Drawings/writing a message with a note of where we're from

Legend of the Seeker (2009 - 2010)

Legend of the Seeker is a fantasy tv show, based on Terry Goodkind's "Sword of Truth" book series. Richard Cypher is the Seeker of Truth, a hero who has a destiny to defeat evil. He is joined by Kahlan Amnell, the Mother Confessor, Zeddicus Zu'l Zorander, Wizard of the First Order and Cara, the Mord-Sith.

Tabrett Bethell first appeared in "Reckoning", the season 1 finale as Cara, then joined as a regular for the second season.

(Mild spoilers)
Cara is the toughest Mord-Sith who carries and fights with two Agiels (weapons that inflict great pain to both the wielder and the victim). She was trained to govern her emotions, to be a killer, serving Darken Rahl in every way. But after she joins Richard and the others, Cara slowly realizes that she was wrong about many things and she is starting to change and open up to others. The writers did a great job with the character, Cara changed, evolved at least a little bit in every episode. Her relationship with Kahlan was one of the main storylines throughout the second season. Tabrett Bethell did a wonderful job portraying every layer of this very complex, conflicted and flawed character on her way to redemption.

The show was not renewed for a third season, but the fans are doing everything they can to bring back Legend of the Seeker. You can find all the information you need if you want to help at the site below, just click on the picture.

The suicide of a corrupt Mayor in Shanghai leads to convulsions in Sydney: an exchange student from China, Mei Li is abducted. Her lover, David, and a complete stranger Simon are joined in a quest to find her. On their journey, the two men are stripped of their everyday exterior finding themselves capable of murder.

Strangers Lovers Killers was Tabrett Bethell's first feature film, shortly after she finished her training at Screenwise. She played a supporting role, Chris, one of the main characters' (Simon) girlfriend. Sadly there isn't a lot of information avalaible about the film, or it's release date, if it has been already been released. A Russian site claims the world premiere was in April 2010 but I haven't found anything more.
